Default Very confused, please help?

Hi there,

Me and my boyfriend have just returned to the UK after an amazing holiday in the US.
We would love to be able to live in the US for a year.

Does anyone know how we would go about doing this?
Ive done searches on the internet and so far not found anything useful

Please help us. Thanks

Do you want to work in the US for a year? Or have an extended vacation for a year?

A bit of both. We'd like to work over there but also travel.

Either way it's not going to happen. Read the link:

Pulaski's Ways

The best you'll manage is a 6-month B2 visa, if you can show sufficiently strong ties to the UK (i.e. you'll leave when your visa expires). Be aware that you cannot undertake ANY paid employment while you are in the US on a B2 visa.

Very, very unlikely to happen. There is, as far as I know, no legal way for a visitor to enter the US for a year-long vacation.

Hi:

Unfortunately, US law does not allow this particular combination. It is possible, albeit difficult, to take extended holidays in the US -- provided you show no intent to work, a fairly well defined itinerary and lots of available funds. And no work.

There is no "bumming around, hanging out" type of visa category. Sorry.

What visa did they use? How old were they? When was this?

OK, that's what they claim to have done, which seems unlikely. Why not ask them exactly what they did (when they entered, when they left - get the exact dates) and how they did it (what method of entry and exit they used - visa? if so, which one?, visa waiver program - in which case they broke the law by staying more than 90 days).

Something is odd here, and more details of what they did would help us understand.

I suppose it would be possible, if all the stars line up in your favor, that you could get a B tourist visa, get admitted for 6 months to the USA and then somehow manage to extend that into another 6 months. But you absolutely cannot work using that visa. You'd have to just travel. No work.
