Re: Vacation and time off from work
I now get 5 weeks of PTO, and have been at my job for over 10 years. We also get most of the holidays such as Memorial Day, Labor Day, MLK Day etc. It's hard to leave this job because of the generous vacation allowance, even though I'm not that happy here and want to move on. Sort of the golden handcuffs....

I get 3 weeks now having gained an extra one after 5 years. Also get all the "Bank" Holidays, 10 this year. And about 6 days sick, but only ever used a day or 2 so far.

I get 5 days after 5 years with no chance of it increasing and it would be a miracle if I could actually take those 5 days without work contacting me for an "emergency". I get as many sick days as I need but again that's just working from home rather than actually sitting around recovering. It's the downside of working for a small company.

I'm with you on that. In the 7 years I've worked for my company, I don't think I've ever had a holiday where I haven't been phoned up at least a couple of times. Like you said, downside of a small company where leaving something for 2 days, let alone 2 weeks just isn't possible.

Not just the small companies, hubby doesn't get a weekend, public holiday or vacation where he is not on the phone/email. He has taken calls in the queues in Disney!!!, but I suppose that's what he has to put up with to keep me in the style to which I have become accustomed

Re: Vacation and time off from work
After 10 years, I get 20 days vacation this year (I'll max out at 25 days after 15 years), 12.5 days holiday annually, and 15 days sick leave annually (with no max accumulation).
Can't complain really. Although, back in the early days of meeting the DH, I barely had any leave balances, and he took his long holidays to see me. Now that he's here and barely any leave time, we can't go anywhere of any consequence now that I have tons of time to waste.

10 days vacation, 7 federal holidays.. New years, Easter (that may not be federal), memorial, July 4th, labor day, Thanksgiving and X-mas, AKA winter holiday. No sick or personal days. Still it's better than when I was self employed for 20 years. Never took a full week off from 1984 till 2004.
