That does seem to make sense since in the late 1960s, I went back to the US from Switzerland for training for 8 months and my British wife accompanied me. However at that time, everything was much easier and I don't think she applied for a visa and we just hopped on a plane and we stayed in the US for those 8 months. We even stored my car and furniture and ended the rental agreement before we left Switzerland.

The B-2 playing house with an H1B would also have to maintain a foreign residence so not much of a difference there...

My good friend:

Are you willing to pass on the mantle of "sanctimonious prick?" Curious minds would like to know.

Sorry, but them's the facts.

Thank you!

A friend of mine with a practice in "The Industry" related to me that she represented a fairly prominent "power couple" one of whom was an AmCit and the other a UK citizen. For tax reasons, the UK half of the couple would come to the US on either a B-1/B-2 or the appropriate non-immigrant work visa and avoid every accumulating 180 days presence in a year in the US.
