Hi everyone,

Just got some very good news, my H1-B has been approved.

Anyway here are the times for those of you still waiting.

California Service Center

Application submitted: Dec 7th 2000 Received by INS (receipt date): Dec 22nd 2000
Approved: Mar 23rd 2001

It's been a long and painful wait, but I'm so happy now.

I'd like to thank everyone in this group for their help.

Just Curious, what exactly is the "approval" of your H1B? Do you get special
paperwork or is it just a stamp on your passport?

You - actually, your employer - get an approval notice from INS on form I-797. The
employer then forwards that approval notice to you, and you then take it together
with your passport to the nearest US consulate to get the stamp in your passport.

Strangley enough - the email from the attorneys were asking me for the address to
send it to. I imagine they are sending it direct to me.

I've just got my approval notice through :

Dates mmddyy Submitted ~121000 Receipt Notice 011201 Approval Notice 041101

5 months in all. I can tell you that patience is a virtue when getting a visa. Thanks
to everyone for your help. Good look to everyone still trying,
