Question re a sticky - keeping original citizenship
There is s sticky "Uncle Sam Wants YOU to be a US Citizen", in which keeping one's original citizenship when becoming a USC is discussed. One post says the following regarding the UK:
Many countries, including the UK, require a citizen to make a formal denunciation to their own officials to legally give up their citizenship, irrespective of whatever their citizens might have to do or say to gain another country's citizenship. The US does not require anyone to go through any such procedure with their original country when gaining US citizenship. To the US, their oath is all that counts.
So what do Brits who become or are about to become US citizens do? Do they HAVE to denounce their UK citizenship? I would like to keep mine.

Re: Question re a sticky - keeping original citizenship
British citizens are not required to renounce their British citizenship in order to be US citizens nor do they lose their British citizenship by becoming a US citizen.
In short, you don't have to do anything in order to retain your British citizenship.

OK, thanks.
The quote I gave is in a sticky. Shoudn't the sticky be corrected then?

I think I see what you're saying, that it can be understood another way, but read it with emphasis on my underlines and then it simply means one needs to give up UK citizenship to acquire US citizenship. So either way, it's confusing. I would suggest it needs at least amending.

You were placing the emphasis in entirely the wrong place, including linking 2 words through punctuation, which dosent even make sense.
