All,

My father spent 2 years in the US on a J1 visa. Upon the completion of
his assignment he left back to the home country (India). He been there
since (for about 1 year).

The 2 year residency rule states that he stay back for another year but
we'd like to bring him back on Visitors visa. There is no intent to
engage in work related activity, this is purely a family visit.

I understand that there are restrictions on returning back on B1, H1 or
F1 visa before the end of the 2 year period. But i am wondering if it
holds true for a visitors visa as well
