Default TSC Processing times

Hi,

I just queried my AOS (I-485 Employment-based) status on the BCIS web-site, and my processing time seems to have mysteriously increased from ~700 days, as shown on the Notice of Action, to 900-999 days! Can anyone shed any light on what I should consider to be a realistic time.

Also I note that in a remote corner of the BCIS web site says that you can write to the Service Center Director to request expedited processing in special circumtances. My company has a contract with a Gov't Agency, and it would help the Gov't Agency (re: Export Control Issues) if I got my GC soon - if I could get them to write would that consitute "speciial circumstances". Does anyone out there have any experience of this, and maybe a draft letter they could let me have?

I know in these "exceptional circumstances" the US citizenship to a British

citizenship because otherwise she wouldn't be able to get security
clearance.

The processing time on the notice of action seems to come from a random
number generator and doesn't usually have much relationship to reality.

Don't bother trying to request expedited processing in your situation. You
need a true emergency to justify it. The most common reason for expediting
used to be that children may age out, and thanks to a recent change in
law, that usually no longer is an emergency. It merely being helpful for
the business would only qualify if the business would be pushed into
bankruptcy or some other severe economic harm came from the delay.

Ingo and others-

What about the example cited above, i.e. a British expat working for a defense project?

What mechanism would be used to speed things up - i.e. how would one go about this?

In most cases, there is no way to speed up things. If there ever is, then
I'm sure the employer and/or the military would know about the ways...

I find this very surprising, since the BCIS Web site:

specifically cite the case that I am using as one where expedited processing may be applicable. To quote their Fact Sheet dated June 1 2001:

Is Premium Processing the Only Way to Receive Expedited Processing?

No. INS will continue its existing policy and procedures for requesting expeditious processing of petitions and applications that are not designated for Premium Processing. The existing procedures allow for expedited processing based upon the following five criteria:

Severe financial loss to a company or individual,
Extreme emergent situation,
Humanitarian situation,
Department of Defense or national interest situation, or
INS error.

Surely someone, somewhere, has some expereince of this.

As I said, if expedited processing is available based on such a need, then
the employer would certainly know about it!
