Default Trying to migrate to Maryland pr Virginia

Hi

I am new to this group and seeking advice. I'm a graduate of International relations and diplomacy.

I have 10 years admin and retail experience and speak 4 languages fluently. I also have 3 experience in the political field. I would like to migrate to Maryland (i have family there, not immediate) or to Virginia (because it's calm and beautiful).
One of my family friend owns a business and she has offered me a job. How do i go on about with the process and how long will it take to finalise everything?
Mind you, i have children of school age. My ultimate dream is to open a restaurant when i get there.

Any relevant advice is welcome
Thanks in advance.

Hi, welcome to BE. You've posted in our 'Jobs Offered' section which is for employers, I'll move your thread to the US immigration section now where you'll get good advice.

What is the job you've been offered? You don't need to do anything, it's up to your friend to petition for your visa. Whether or not you can get a visa will depend on what the job is, you can see all of the available visas here and see if you think any of those would work for the job and/or your qualifications - https://britishexpats.com/wiki/Pulas...ork_in_the_USA

HTH, best of luck.

Despite it's image, the US is actually one of the hardest countries for which to get a visa to live and work.

Based on what you have said, your plan might be difficult or impossible, but the fact that you have a degree helps considerably.

Check this thread, and see if you fit into any of the prescribed categories:

Also note that you will need either your childs fathers written permission or a court order to remove them from the UKs jurisdiction.

What if the father only has figs or plums?

Whether that could possible work depends on the job and your specific qualifications and suitability to fill the roll, and potentially the depth of the friend's pockets, and patience in waiting for you to get a visa. If labor market certification is required you'd be looking at a year or longer and probably $10K in visa and legal fees.

Given that you would need at least $00,000's to capitalize a restaurant, there may be investment visa options for you, with various advantages and drawbacks.

Take a look at the link Civilservant provided above and let us know if you have any questions.

It's hard to be able to come here without getting married to a USC or working for a company in your home country with US offices (+ having managerial experience and or specialist knowledge with said company). There are other ways, in terms of studying but does not sound like that would be an option.

The H1-B visa route is a bit more open to some flexibility it you have someone sponsoring you from the US but is hard to have to prove all sorts of things, which can be tricky, especially nowadays.

Canada?
