Travelling while waiting for name change to be approved
Hi there,
I recently married, changed my name with social security etc. My passport expired a few months ago without me realizing so I will be applying for a new passport in my new married name this week.
here is the question… I want to go home this year as it’s been quite a while at this point. My green card is in my previous married name. I’m assuming I will need to change the name on my green card to match my passport etc? If I submit a name change, can I travel while waiting for it to be approved? I’ve heard the wait times are quite long. Thanks in advance.

Just carry your marriage certificate with you to explain the disparity in the names. I never changed the name on my UK passport during a period when I had three difference names on my green card!

Ok thank you so much! I was really worried about it. My step sister is getting married in July and I really want to go!
