Default In transito through the US

I will appreciate some input on this: A friend of mine who lives in
Brazil will be going to visit Europe. On his way, he'll have a
24-hour layover in Miami. He's got B1/2 Multiple entry visa.
Will it be possible for him to go trough customs with such visa
considering he's just in transit?
Anything else you can advice on that regard?

Thank you much for your info.

There should be no problems. My dad used to go to Mexico and Canada
having a 24-48 hour layovers in Atlanta. The answer "24 hours" to a
question "how long you gonna stay in the US" sometimes raised some
eyebrows, but he was never refused entry.

B2 visas can be used to transit as well as visit. Have the onward flight tickets available to the officer. The C1 visa limits the person to entering the US and leaving to a third country. People transiting on a B2 have no problem. People trying to visit on a C1 have serious problems.
