Do I have to leave the country to obtain an H-1B if I'm already here on an I Visa? One
other question, if you please. Can I change employers while on an H-1B Visa, and if so,
how difficult is it. Thanks.

I don't think so. When the I-129 is filed for your H-1, your employer will enclose a copy
of your I-94, and you will get with the approval an addendum to your I-94 stating that you
are now in H-1B status.

Yes, you can change employers, but each new employer must file the same batch of
paperwork. Once you have the receipt from the INS stating that they have received the
paperwork, you can change jobs. The receipt tends to take about three weeks to get.
