Tomorrow I become a made man.
Wednesday May 14th sees me become a made man. I have made my bones and will be inducted into the Colorado Family.
My caporegime will be Bill Ritter, consigliere Barbara O'Brien.
I have been an associate/wannabe for the past six years. I'll let you know how it goes. Hopefully I wont cry too much.
'Am taking the camera so will post some pictures later.

Well, it's over.
Yes, I was sworn in as a yankee doodle. Got a nice certificate.
263 of us. 68 countries. Pretty cool.
Here's my journey:
April 1996 arrive on H1b in Atlanta
October 1998 move to Colorado
July 2000 get pregnant (uh-oh!)
August 2000 apply for greencard
September 2002 get green card
July 2007 apply for citizenship
May 2008 I start talking with deep bassy voice.

Someone's already been practising...
That is the funniest rule ever. Has nobody at the passport office ever tried telling a 3 year old to not smile when they're having their photo taken? It's not easy!

Please may I have some budder on my toast.
Thanks, meauxna, Ray and everyone for such a fine community. A lot of laughs, banter, good advice. You're a great bunch and hearty thanks to you all.
PS. Good luck to those still on their journey. Mine was touch and go a couple of times but with perseverance and some luck, things will turn out well for you too.

Re: Tomorrow I become a made man.
We danced all night until 2am, and then went to find a tube, only to find they stopped running about 1am. It was about 30 miles to my aunties place and we thought a taxi would cost us a fortune, so we decided to try and find a late night cafe to hang about in until the trains started running again.
Unfortunately, there was nothing open where we were, so we ended up just trudging around central London all night. Neither of us had coats but fortunately it wasn't too cold.
We were exhausted, but it was worth it for the sunrise. For a few minutes, there was just us in this beautiful city. Very still. Very quiet. And then the city slowly came to life.
I'm actually a perpetual grinner - that's my exhausted face.

If you're referring to my avatar, that is Anna and I standing atop the Millenium bridge thingy at sunrise last year. We were in town visiting my auntie, and we saw that there was a Lindy Hop (swing dancing) exchange in central London, so we went along.
