Default Teaching visa for Oklahoma

Hello,

I'm a qualified teacher with a BA, PGCE and another post-grad education qualification. I'm looking to move to Oklahoma to teach. I've been there loads of times, and have lots of contacts there and so have wanted to move for years. I have been teaching in the UK full time for a few years now.

I was hoping I could get some help here regarding what I need to do now, what should I expect regarding the timeline moving forward, etc and basically what do I need to do?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

If you are relying on getting a work visa to move, then you need to find a school district to sponsor you.
Each state has its own criteria for qualifying teachers.

I note she used the word “qualified” but made no mention of any teaching credential. Curious.

It's not curious at all because the OP did mention her/his teaching qualifications. A quick Google will enlighten you.

Are you a US citizen? Or married to one? Or do you need a work visa/sponsoring employer to move?

if the latter a British or possibly international is going to be your best chance, as very few ‘normal’ schools have the budget to sponsor a visa, or the time to wait around for you to start. There aren’t any British schools in Oklahoma, not sure about international ones though. So you might need to cast your net further around the US to be in with a chance.

Good luck.

Definitely a fair question. That said, Spouse of spouse states that Google will reveal further information about OP. Is the question you pose answered by that information. I will admit that I don’t know how to frame that particular Google search.

I don't think SoS was suggesting you Google the OP, but that you Google her credentials as you said she "made no mention of any teaching credential", when she does in fact mention them.

Any chance the reason you are looking is because you are dating someone there? If so, just get married.

Yes, my initial thought was only in regards to OP’s credentials. But then further question was asked regarding OP beyond her qualifications. I just wonder if Google might answer those questions. I have no idea.

From OP - 'I'm a qualified teacher with a BA, PGCE and another post-grad education qualification'

Your comment - 'I note she used the word “qualified” but made no mention of any teaching credential. Curious.'

SoS - 'It's not curious at all because the OP did mention her/his teaching qualifications. A quick Google will enlighten you.'

PGCE = Post Graduate Certificate in Education (from Google search - https://getintoteaching.education.go...what-is-a-pgce )
