Default Tax implications of temporary work in the US

I have just been granted L1-A status and will be taking a 6 to 9-month secondment in the US from the UK.

Can anyone with direct experience of this advise me on the taxation implications? Will I be double-taxed? Will I be eligible for any tax relief in the UK? Will I need to file a tax return?

Cheers,
Ian.
