When a US Citizen files for GC for his parents(I-130,I-485...) who are
in the US, how does one specify that a Social Security number be
issued also?
I was told that there is possibly some way that can be done and one
gets the social security number early. Would appreciate advise.
Without the number it is very hard to apply for health insurance etc.

For info on SS# go to:

"Types Of Cards
We issue three types of Social Security cards:
The card most people have shows your name and Social Security number and
lets you work without restriction. We issue it to:
U.S. citizens, or
people lawfully admitted to the U.S. with permanent Department of Homeland
Security (DHS) work authorization.
The second card bears the legend, " NOT VALID FOR EMPLOYMENT." We issue it
to people:
from other countries lawfully admitted to the U.S. without work
authorization from DHS; and
who need a number because of a federal law requiring a Social Security
number to get a benefit or service.
The third card bears the legend, " VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH INS
AUTHORIZATION." We issue it to people:
lawfully admitted to the U.S. on a temporary basis; and
with DHS (formerly INS) authorization to work. "

I have not heard of eary SSN issuance. Generally, your parent will file
Form I-765 simultaneously with the I-130/I-485 at the BCIS district office.
When the I-765 is approved, the parent receives an employment authorization
document. With that EAD, the parent can apply for an SSN.
