All I wanted was yes - still 12+ years. Not easy having to disappoint your sister and her family so wanted to be completely sure. So first 2 replies seemed a bit rude, as I've seen sillier question asked on this forum in the past.

Move on and no hard feelings.

Hi:

Just the usual warning that the Visa Bulletin just gives the current cut-off date with no information of how many people are in front of you or if there will be factors that speed up or slow down the processing. In other words, it is hard, if not impossible to predict with any accuracy on how long it will take.

Given the length of the backlog, it is often better if one files sooner rather than later. This may seem counter-intuitive, but it happens to be true when you think about.

As a high school teacher, you should have noted the inherent ambiguity of your original question, "Is this the same if I file for my sister in the UK?".

The question can be interpreted in either of two ways: 1) your sister is in the UK; or 2) you want to file in the UK. That different people have interpreted this in different ways is not the fault of the reader... but of the author.

Had you written, "Is this the same if I file in the UK for my sister?", it might have altered the responses you initially received.

Ah yes, the man with one leg named John.
And what was his other leg named?

Numbers are easier in a way...
