Why don't those who have been here long enough to hear the recurring
questions, and those who are legally "in the know" write a definitive online
FAQ and point newbies at it?
There is a lot of anecdotal information out there - too much really - but
each piece of information is first-hand knowledge from someone who has only
been through the process once and therefore has no way of knowing if their
experience is typical.

I've not been to britishexpats as I post through usenet, but if those
resources are considered exhaustive and definitive I suggest that those who
are exasperated with repeating themselves either cease responding or simply
post those URLs when the same questions are repeated.
