Default Should I say I'm visiting Girlfriend at border control?

I hear people say if your going to visit your girlfriend it's best to say you're just visiting a "friend" as girlfriend is a red flag with possible intent to stay and could lead to problems, only problem being is on my last visit I said I was visiting girlfriend, will they find it strange this girlfriend is now gone and I'm just coming to see a friend in the exact same place?

I mean it wasn't an issue last time and nothing said to me last time I said girlfriend? I have a feeling it will become more of an issue now if I suddenly change it to "friend"?

Thanks

I did the long distance thing for over four years, visiting every couple months, and always said 'girlfriend'. It was never an issue at all.

Be consistent. Perhaps your last response was noted on your record. Are you planning to stay? No? Then just tell the truth.

Why are you assuming it'll be an issue this time?

Just worrying, I'm a worrier, I over worry about everything, especially anything that will stand in the way of me seeing my girlfriend.
Just from reading things like people saying I will definitely be questioned farther if I say I'm coming to see my girlfriend, where as I know this isn't true from last time, just worry like I might have got a easy going border control person last time, next time they might be harder on me?

Nope, I've had that for a while now and entered the US under the VWP many times now with it, which is perfectly fine and legal.
Shame the same can't be said for Canada

No, because like you said you don't have to with a ESTA, there is no need to declare it, it's not a issue on the VWP

A DUI isn't a crime involving moral turpitude according to US law, so yes it is true.

Were you arrested and convicted of a crime?

How does that relate to ESTA?

The OP has already correctly stated that drink driving isn't an issue.

My apologies. I re-read the ESTA form and it only asks about drugs.
