from RESIDENT to CITIZEN...a few questions
Hi everyone!. I'm a PERMANENT resident in the USA....In Feb 2003 it will be 3 years now....however, I was told that in order to become a CITIZEN I must wait 5 years in total (so I have 2 left), considering that I'm not married to an american citizen.
My question is: is there any other way to obtain my citizenship more fast? Is there any legal process that can be done, any lawyer that can help?
your help would really be appreciated.....thanx

Only if you enlist in the armed forces. Other than that nothing.

Why should there be any exception to you from others? Tom

In theory, there are other exceptions to the five year rule, but in
practice, none of them will work. If you currently enlist in the military,
you would immediately qualify for citizenship - but the paperwork to prove
that will probably take more than two years.
You may want to download the naturalization guide from the INS Web site
(http://www.ins.gov ); it describes the various rules.
A lawyer will not make a difference, unless he happens to find some
loophole rule.
