Default Removal of conditional residency and travel

Hi,
I obtained my Green card through marriage to an US citizen. My
conditional residency expires in around 6 weeks from now. I am going
to apply for the "removal of conditional residency" through form
I-751.
But how long does it take to get it approved ?
I need to travel outside the country withing 7 weeks ?
Can I apply for "Advance Parole" or "Re-entry permit" ?

thanks,
Shawn

Hi:

Time to approval: can't be determined.

The intial filing reciept will have language extending your LPR status for one year. You can travel on that. Note that you can submit an I-751 with just the form and your signature and the right check and it will be filed. You might want to do that if getting the receipt is the most urgent thing.

ADvance parole -- no, not applicable to you.

"Reentry Permit" -- your I-551 and the extension on the receipt will be a "reentry permit" -- also, if you get the file number and don't have the receipt in hand, your local district office can do a temporary I-551 stamp in the passport.

If it expires in 6 weeks, then you should submit it now.
In a week or 2, you should have an NOA extending it by 1 year.
However, the longer you wait to file, the more likly a small error on
BCIS or your part could cause a problem with your forthcoming trip.
Generally, I recommend filing closer to the 90 day point.
