re-entry without valid visa?
Hi everybody,
here's my situation: I am in the States right now and want to go home
(Germany) for Christmas. I do have a valid SEVIS form (until February
1st 2005), but my visa stamp in my passport expired in August 2004. If
I go home, I have to schedule an appointment with the US embassy in
Berlin - but it's hard to get an appointment around Christmas, and I
can't stay in Germany very long.
Now, is there any way to get a new visa stamp from within the States?
Or is is possible to enter the US without a valid new visa stamp but
with my other valid documentation?
If I do get an appointment, how long does it take until I get my
passport + new visa back? On website says it takes up to 10 days, the
other site says it will be processed the same day...
Thanks so much for all your help, I really appreciate it!

you will have no choice but make an appointment. If you call right now, you may be lucky and get an appointment. You can't enter without a valid visa.
Same day processing works in Frankfurt, I don't know if it also works in Berlin. In Frankfurt we told them that we had to leave pretty soon, so they issued our visas the same day. should be possible in Berlin also if you tell them your story.

You'll need a new visa but should be able to have an interview on time
if you schedule it soon enought

Re: re-entry without valid visa?
You cant get it done in the US anymore. But I beleive it is possible
to do this in Canada, at a US embassy in Canada. ( I am not an expert
on this so please do some research on this option)

Barbados is great, Book appt online and it is issued within 3 hours. I did this with my H4 visa. Worth the airfare!
