I am looking to go over to New York for 2 months, mid june until mid august but I will need to work. I understand I need a H2B visa, is this the only visa I can get? Also do I need a job in place before I can even apply for the visa?
Thanks for the help.

The H visas require an employer to sponsor you and if you qualify and your employer gets the petition filed quickly you won't be able to work until sometime after October, 2007. And that is only if you are qualified in a certain profession and are seeking full time employment.

I thought that was for a H1B visa. I thought there was seasonal visa that allowed you to just work the summer etc? If I am a student but I graduate in June, am I ineligible for the J visa?? Or is the only way I can move out there is through saving enough money?

"I am looking to go over to New York for 2 months"
"I thought there was seasonal visa that allowed you to just work the summer etc?"
By saying move out there I mean "go" out there. Does that make sense?

seasonal...employer still files for you...kind of things that get H2 would be ski instructor, blueberry/apple/potato pickers...what were you looking at?
your probably better off looking at the bunac type program.
