Default Question

Hello all,

I'm trying to bring my fiancé up from Mexico, (I-129) I submitted all the
documents. We have a child together (US citizen) and I thought that was
enough proof that we "met". The problem is that it was rejected. It appears
I need further proof that we actually met within 2 years of filing the
documents, the birth of our daughter fell outside that window. What I
presented to them was photos of every Christmas together as a family for the
last four years as secondary evidence thinking that would be enough, using
our daughter's growth as a benchmark. I guess it wasn't.

Now they want some "primary" information.

1. Military commands
I'm not in the military

2. Airline receipts
She lives 14 miles south of me across the border in Mexico

3. Credit card receipts
Don't have any, but we do have a joint credit card account together..... she
has just never used it.

4. Visa stamped with dates.
She uses a tourist Visa (laser) that only needs to be presented at the
border for passage. I believe it's good for 10 years.

The rejection stated that if I didn't satisfy this request, they may cancel
the whole deal.

What I do have is:

1. Her Passport (which I already sent the first time)
It shows that it was issued to her in San Diego (Where I live) during that
window.

2. Her Laser Visa (wasn't sent with the documents)
This card allows her to cross at will when presented, as a tourist whenever
she wants.

3. Visa Permit (also was never sent with the documents)
This is a temporary card that allows her to go further into the country, I
have a permit of hers issued during that time frame which was good for six
months.

As more secondary info I was going to send a copy of our Sea World Passports
for the year 2002 (photos are on the cards), and we also have Costco
memberships with cards issued during that time frame with our pictures on
them.

Do you think that if I presented all the above, it would be enough to keep
it going? I don't know what else to do.

Thanks
Mark

I don't know but if she lives close by why not go visit her and get some
photos taken of the two of you together using a camera that puts a date
stamp on the shot. Even get one of you both holding a current newspaper to
verify the date.

Very odd requests but:

I suggest you send the credit card information/proof whether she has used it
or not is irrelevent, it does indicated a 'relationship.'

I suspect the question is the validity of the relationship more than 'having
met.'

The rest: Laser Visa, Visa Permit all sound good and other users will have
further suggestions.

Because "now" would be outside the two year window...... the two year
window ended when I filed.

Do you have a credit card that YOU used to buy anything in her hometown?
I believe they are looking for evidence that either you were there or
she was where you live in the past 2 years.

Yes, send them. They should have been sent originally.

Yes, it will be enough to keep the process going.
It should even be enough to prove you two have seen each other in the
past 2 years.

Maybe buy a calling card that logs phone calls, engagement ring receipt? Your daughter's birth certificate?

Default Re: Question

Have you taken a friend with you on any of your visits? Or perhaps when she visits you, you went out with friends or visited them in their homes, or visited with our parents? If so, are there photographs of you two together with these people in their homes? If so, can you have them write a letter attesting to this fact, substantiating the occasion and date involved? Have the letters notarized. The same goes on her side of the border. Have you visited doctors together regarding the care of your child? Schools? Think. There have to be things you two did together that involved other people.

Yes I agree, but I thought it was a "no brainer" after presenting our
daughter's birth certificate

No calling cards..... I used my cell phone (if I could find the statements
even) but I don't think that proves that we met?

Birth certificate was sent in..... pre window......

Engagement ring receipt..... post window

Thanks for these suggestions, and to everyone else that replied...... this
has given me food for thought in directions I never considered before!
