Cover it on a round trip (just don't worry about the backend of the trip). Round trip airfare is going to be cheaper than a one way ticket anyway.

Cheers,

Leslie,

Thanks for your reply. I have a ticket sorted out, it is the insurance i need, and if i get round trip cover i have to be back in the UK to make a claim i think - this is what one insurance company i spoke to said.
I did get a quote for 50 pounds for the 1-way trip this morning, with 1500 pounds baggage cover, it just seemed very high and i was trying to get a lower quote.
thanks

Can you tell me where you got that quote from? I can't find anyone to cover me
and the girls for the first month till we get on my fiancé's medical insurance
- because of the one-way thing.

Regarding an earlier post in the thread, to tell the insurer you're returning
when you're not is technically fraud. I'm not telling anyone what to do, just
stating the facts. Everyone makes their own decision.

Also re an earlier post, I got a one-way ticket and it was MILES cheaper than a
return - £541.10 for myself and two children and that includes airport tax. My
ticket on its own cost under £200. That's with Continental.

Anyone with info on one-way insurance from England please shout or mail me at
[email protected]. Thanks.

regards

Endsleigh

Cover for one individual age 18 to 65

1 to 4 days cover: GBP 18.40 Policy type "Essential"
1 to 4 days cover: GBP 30.00 Policy type "Comprehensive"

excludes baggage insurance (usually covered by home contents insurance)
- with baggage insurance approx 33% more depending on amount.

You must answer YES to the question "Are all travellers either UK
residents or physically located in the UK at the time of purchase?"

Its my belief that the date of the return trip is primarily concerned
with the length of cover requested. This is more obvious when one looks
at annual multi-trip insurance where only the length of cover is asked.
However, what is clearly material is the residence of the insured and
that the trip is a holiday rather than permanent residence abroad. The
Endsleigh site referred to above seems to have some flexibility by
asking ".. or physically located in the UK at the time of purchase"
Nevertheless I would check the fine print or better still call at one of
their offices.

Just for comparison I checked London Heathrow to Newark for one adult.

AA £151 + Tax £60 = £211 round trip Dec 5th to 15th
CO £170 + Tax £68 = £238 round trip Dec 5th to 15th

CO £157 + Tax £46 = £203 single trip Dec 5th
