Prove Intent To Return
So I'm going for a visa interview very shortly, and the one thing I'm stressing over is how to prove my intent to return to the UK after I've completed my 18 month training position on a J1.
I graduated 1.5 years ago, got a job immediately after uni in my career and was made redundant after a year and a bit when my company went into liquidation. I've been offered a fantastic position as a trainee in the USA, but have been unemployed since September. I'm living with my folks again and have no assets apart from my stuff and my cat, both of which are with me at my parents.
I was offered a much more junior position by another company in the UK after I had chose to do this process and my sponsor invested in me. I declined the offer on that basis and they were very supportive of it and told me to get back to them if anything happens. However I don't think this will help much as they didn't promise a job on return.
What paperwork could I bring to prove I will come home? All my family live in the UK, as do all my friends and professional contacts.
Any ideas?

I don't know about J1 specifically, but I suspect you are interpreting the question wrong. You probably need to present evidence (not proof), that you do not intend to stay in US, (immigrant intent).
Things change once you arrive, but most of what you wrote would be, imho, evidence that you don't have immigrant intent.
Does this 18 months training in US lead to a job outside the US?

Re: Prove Intent To Return
It should give me much more experience to go for jobs I have recently been unsuccesful for back home, but I have no firm offers. :/ it is a very specialist role in my field and it would be very difficult to get something that offers the same for me at this stage in the UK as most of the jobs going tend to be more senior.

Any more advice on this? My interview is very soon.
Thank for the help so far.

Not really. Proving unbreakable ties to your home country is virtually impossible and practically meaningless anyway - houses can be sold, leases broken, cars disposed of etc.. All you (anyone) can do is present themselves as well as they can and hope that interviewer got out of bed on the right side.
Good luck with your interview.

J-1 interviews in London are essentially a formality - they very likely won't even ask more than a couple of trivial questions.

Intent was always a broad brush with plenty of scope for discretion. Glad to hear things have worked out, I find the US is a different beast nowadays..

Great! I'm looking at places to live in Costa Mesa, Irvine and Newport Beach. I'm liking CM most so far cause it's in the middle of everything. I also started my trainee possition and drove on an American freeway for the first time on Monday. been to central LA too and hoping to hop down to San Diego this weekend. Busy busy! Met a lot of great people too! And I scored a free lunch from Chipoltle for my accent (cashier just bought it for me).
