Does anyone know why the priority dates stopped moving from Dec.'00 ? Is it due to
quota being used up ? or something else ? How can quota for the year be used up in
one month ?

Anyone know the answer ? Appreciate it very mush ??

I have already asked this question some time ago. I was asked what category it was. I
believe that the dates stopped only for the family based immigration. right? My
brother called somewhere (I don't know exactly who but I presume it is the INS) and
they said that they ran out of quota for that year (or this year?). And from the
responses that I got here at the news group (fiscal INS year starts in October) it
seems unbelievable that they ran out of those numbers so quickly. They stopped 7
months before my priority date and it is frustrating to find that I have to wait
again another year.

If someone has more information please share it with us. thanks

Frank

You are probably talking about the family quotas. The quota for the year has NOT
been used up (if it had, the category would read "unavailable" rather than
specify a date).

What has most likely happened is that many people filed their petition right around
the time the PD is right now, for any number of reasons. For instance, the Family 2A
category for Mexico is probably stuck at in 1994 or so because that was the time when
many illegal Mexicans received their Green Card through the amnesty program and were,
all at once, eligible to file petitions for their spouses and children.

My category is 2B first column. I have been following the bulletin since December and
it has not moved since (the date keeps saying 22 Jun). In this case the Mexican issue
would not seem to be my case, but how come it is holding there?
