Parole documents - Should I receive 2 or 3 copies?

Hi,
I received my advance parole documents for my pending i-485
application. However, I only received two copies of those instead of
the expected three. I wonder if INS recently changed their procedures?
I would like to hear from anyone who has received their parole
documents recently and if they received two copies also.
Also, I am to Pakistan for a couple of weeks on these parole
documents. I have not received my EAD yet. Any feedback on having only
two copies of parole document or not having EAD will cause any
problems.
I shall appreciate any feedback.
Thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure I only got 2 copies. The way I understand it, the officer at the POE will take one, and you keep the other.
And your EAD has nothing to do with AP.

Having or not having the EAD doesn't affect the AP.
INS is now USCIS, by the way. Have a nice trip!
Best Wishes,

p.s. - be absolutely certain that you qualify to use AP. No previous overstays, etc.

Thanks Rene,
I read in some discussion groups and was told by some friends that the
third copy is for airline career to keep but that might not be required
then anymore, I guess. I am not as worried from officers at US POE as I
am from our airport officials in Pakistan.
Thanks for the INS correction. Was just lazy and did not want to
lookup for the new acronym.

USCIS only issues two exact copies of Advance Parole. I recently travelled on one myself.
At the POE they will retain one and you keep the other copy.
And yes, the airline carrier also keeps a copy, but rather than keep one of the originals, they make a copy for themselves and then hand you back your originals.
In regard to EAD; although I had one myself, one one even bothered to look or even ask for it. So I don't think its of any relevance to your travel.
Bon voyage.

Actually, the EAD does have to do with Advance Parole: if he returns
with the A/P, he may[*] not automatically be authorized to work. He
would have to use the EAD to work.
[*] At some point in the past, legacy INS took the position that the
work authorization from an H-1B survived such a trip even though the
H-1B itself ended with the departure from the USA. This policy predates
the regulations allowing using an H-1B visa after filing an I-485, and I
believe - but don't know for a fact - that it is no longer in effect.

I currently have H1B status and I also have I-485 pending based on approved
NIW I-140 petition. I recently used AP to returned to the States after my
overseas business trip. The legacy INS memo kevin is talking about can be
found here http://www.shusterman.com/hlmemo500.html Before going on overseas
trip, I consulted with an attorney regarding this issue. Surprisingly the
attorney didn't know about this memo and only after I showed him a printout,
he looked through his books and confirmed that the memo is still applicable.
I may be wrong, but in my opinion a lot of attorneys are unaware of this
important information.
