Default OPT, expired I20, travel

Hi,

I am planning on travelling this summer. I have a F1 visa valid until
2007. I applied for OPT last march and did receive my card, though my
I20 expired last march and I would like to know if I can travel in
those conditions.

According to certain people I don't need a valid I20, according to
others I do. Also it looks like I need a signature on my I20.

My university refuses to issue me a new I20, stating it overlaps with
my OPT, is this true ?

It might be useful information also I have fulfill all my credits, but
I haven't graduated officially.

Thank you

Jerome

My I-20 expiration date is August 31, 2003. However, on the second page, there is a comment: OPT August 31, 2003 through August 31, 2004. I was told that's my new expiration date. I am not travelling anywhere, though. I would not risk it.

You do need a signature for travel overseas.

By last March, did you mean March 2004 or March 2003?

To travel you need to,
1) You do not need a valid I-20, but get a signature on your I-20 by your school official.
2) your opt period should not have expired.
3) The most important is : You need to get a letter from your present employer stating that you are working there and will be returning to continue your work. If you do not carry this letter you will most likely be denied entry.

The fact that you graduated or not does not matter.
