Hello all, I am going to Tijuana next Tuesday to get my visa stamp. I have a last
minutes question..... Please advice...
I was looking at my passport, and I realized I still have the I-94 (the white card
I-94 form) stapled in my passport when I last entered the U.S. (with my F1 student
visa) on 30 Aug 1999 as I was going to graduate school in the U.S.
Ever since than (30 Aug 1999), I have not leave the country and within that period, I
graduated and have my status change from F1 to H1-B after I found a job.
My question is TEST Do I need to surrender the I-94 (the white card) to the US
official across Mexico border post when I enter Tijuana? How does that work? Will
that affect the process of getting my H1B visa stamp?
I believe my valid I-94 would now be the one in my H1B approval notice (I-797 form)
and I will be taking that with me to the interview.
Thank you all and kindly advice.

I have a dilemma about I-539.I am applying for H-1B and right now I have F-1 visa and
optional practical training. I graduated from UCI last summer. I didnt hire a lawyer
for this visa application anyway my question is do i need to file this I-539 form to
INS for the change of status? What i understood from the instructions I dont need to
file I-539 for H-1B application. If somebody can answer my question I will be very
happy....thanks alot...Tan

Hi, When this happened to me, they did not take my I-94 on the way out of US. But on
the way in, the officer took my old I-94 because I didnt really need
it. The valid one is the new one. This should not affect your visa stamp in any way.
Hope this helps.
Best Regards
