O-1 Creative Producer / consultant

Hi there,

I am currently in New York on a B2 cohabiting and have now hired a lawyer to start the O-1 visa application.

I wondered if any of you have applied for this as some form of producer (not including film)? I do produce film but also cultural and arts events and wondered if you had been able to source an appropriate Union / guild to do a consultation?

I also consult in these areas and wondered if perhaps possible to apply with the title of Arts & Media Consultant which would allow me to continue the breadth of work I work across.

And finally, if any of you have got an O-1 as a producer, did you use an agent so that you could freelance?

I'm no expert, but I believe O-1 is tied to a specific employer, so you wouldn't be allowed to freelance.

If I read your description of what you do correctly it does not sound O 1 territory.
