There is an article in today's FT, "US embassy in London denies visas to executives over minor offences," It is behind a paywall but you can try the link https://www.ft.com/content/a38dd4ce-...2-47167e4a703c.

If that doesn't work, I have taken screenshots below:

Interesting read but I presumed that was always the case. Anyone with a criminal record was always deemed inadmissible hence the Visa application always being refused. That was even before Trumps second term. I presume we are all waiting on a waiver of inadmissibility which is different to a visa

The key change since last year is that the consulate does not appear to be making recommendations for the waiver. They're not even going through the process of saying you're ineligible because of your CIMT, which would then require them to consider you for a waiver. They are just doing blanket denials under 214(b), for which there is no appeal process.

oh right. So to even be recommended for a waiver is proving more difficult now?

Correct. While none of us here have any inside knowledge of policies or procedures within the state department, and the only evidence we can work on is from those who self-report in this forum, AND from public information and articles like the above, the reports and data does support the view that the consulate is simply rejecting visa applications using 214(b) rather than recommending waivers if available,

Alternative version of the article with no paywall.

A mistake you made in the '70s can still block your US business trip today

Really hoping you get a full 5 year visa. Nailbiting 10-14 days ahead if all goes to schedule.

Keep us posted.

status changed again today back to refused. Assume this is the end of the road for me on this journey.

Not necessarily. Don't lose hope yet. Previous reports have noted that the state has flipped multiple times, including back to "Refused", and then finally changed to "Issued".

We're holding thumbs for you.

christmasoompa this is a bit silly. I have just published a resource specifically for users of this forum, to support a spreadsheet specifically used by this forum, and you won't allow us to discuss it here? This forum is for tracking waivers of ineligibility. The app and sheet provide the mechanism for tracking.

It was very interesting! Success rate looked pretty good, but I assume that is since the sheet started, guess it would be very different stats for last 12.months?

If you're referring to the screenshots which christmasoompa deleted, yes, the filters allow you to see the stats for different periods.
