Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application
For any of you wanting to know the trip to the US went well. The pre-clearance part was fine. I was escorted to a back office where there was a bit of computer typing going on. I was asked who I work for, purpose of the visit, how long and that was it. Took about 10 mins.
was not asked about the waiver at all. still hopeful for all of you waiting. Good luck |

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application
My CEAC status changed to Approved yesterday MAR31 after being in Refused on MAR21, Mar27 and Mar28 and late this afternoon today it finally changed to ISSUED, on April 1st of all days.
I have not yet received the email from the US embassy so hope that's coming tomorrow and that I have my passport no later than Friday and can fly Saturday:fingerscrossed: |

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application
I wish I knew there was something like this when I was waiting for my 1st waiver!
What an awfully horrific, confusing and demoralising time. I was approved for a work-permit in 2022, but needed a D3 waiver after a run-in with CBP. It took 4 months from interview to get the email to send back my passport. I'm waiting for my work-permit renewal, and absolutely kicking myself that I didn't get my ducks in a row sooner. I had no idea that the D3 waiver processing time had been slipping in time. A little pissed that my lawyer didn't give me a heads up sooner, but its also on me for not staying up to date with things. Waiting for visa approval first, and hopeful to be recommended for a waiver again. Really hoping that there is a shift in trends in the next few months and that everyone here gets some good news sooner than expected. For anyone else who's curious - I've been using my work-permit to enter and exit several times a year. I get escorted to secondary 3/5 times. Usually it's just questions about my work. Sometimes no questions. 10% I wait longer than 30 minutes, but that's rare. Anyway. As awful as this situation is for all of us, I'm glad to have found a community going through it too! |

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application
Is anyone aware about changes to CEAC status once a decision on the waiver is made? My visa case was created on 22/04/24, had my interview on 26/04/24, and had the waiver recommended on 29/04/24. Then on 17/03/24, the embassy requested for some additional documents which I submitted on 18/03/25. Throughout this time, the "case last updated" date showed 29/04/24, until just now when it changed to today's date 02/04/25. The status is still showing refused. From this group, I have only seen CEAC status being updated once the passport was handed over to the concerned embassy. In my case, I was not asked to send in my passport. Those of you who had their waivers approved recently, did your CEAC status get updated on the day of waiver approval (or rejection)?

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application
I posted sth earlier this morning but its gone, not sure what I did wrong-it included a link to two reddit conversations regarding the recent courier switch from DX to MBE with the US embassy in London.
It seems there are some serious teething issues going on the last 2 weeks-people not getting emails (until 5 days or more after status going to issued) that their passport is with the courier. My status changed to issued yesterday and I have not yet received an email from the embassy, my flight on Saturday looks shaky based on what I read. |

The CEAC status will not change to "Issued" up until the time they have actually pasted the vignette in your passport. The date is probably being updated as they update your file, so they're definitely touching it at the moment. There is actually a time limit of, iirc, 48 days, in which they have to issue the visa after the waiver is approved, subject of course to all other requirements for the visa being met. |
Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application
Hello everyone,
Received an email today morning stating that my visa has been denied under 214(b). I will probably never know whether my waiver was ever approved by the CBP. But given what the Trump administration is doing to higher education and research, the decision was not surprising. As mentioned previously, I was fortunate to have another offer from a different country. So, I will be relocating toward the end of this month. Thanks everyone for your support throughout the waiting time. I wish you all the best in your endeavours and wish you safe travels to the states. Cheers. |

Not that it will be any consolation, but the fact that they denied it under 214(b) suggests that the ARO approved your waiver, but the consulate subsequently decided you had not sufficiently demonstrated non-immigrant intent, almost certainly in light of the administration's new policies. Wishing you all the best for your studies. |

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application
Well I am next on the list for a B1/B2 visa from London Embassy. Following Scroggs and Franco who took 282 days was Bryan who had his interview just 4 days after those 2 but his visa took 17 more days to process.
If they go more than that again then I am screwed. So hopefully I will get my email within 300 days which would be by 22nd April. I have no finger nails left to chew! |

Oh man that is tough news. I am so sorry that this door closed on you. At least you have a Plan B and can now get on with your life without this terrible stress. It does put it into perspective that while for those of us who just need a B1/B2 visa for a holiday, it's a disappointment not to be granted a waiver or visa, for those like yourselves who have long-term plans in academia, business or family, such a denial can change one's life trajectory.
