Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application
Hello all, I'm new here, currently 18 weeks since my interview for my first B2 visa, due to a very stupid mistake when I was 19 (over 12 years ago) I require a waiver of inadmissability which I expected and applied with plenty of time before I wish to visit (ideally looking to travel June 2015) I just wondered if 1 year is now the minimum visa length or if it is 6 months? I'm just trying to work out what flexibility I will have on when I could go. I'm very keen to get flights booked as the prices are rising but I know I shouldn't book anything until I receive the visa (hopefully) so fingers crossed only a few more weeks !

A 12 month validity with multiple entries is typical, but the actual details can vary. For example my own first B2 visa was valid for 12 months with only one single entry. Other applicants have reported shorter validity on their visas but these tend to be people with serious offences or complicated cases. I would hazard a guess that in your case, with a single teenage offence from over ten years ago, there's a high probability of you receiving a 12 month multiple entry visa.
Current waiting times for waivers are around 26 weeks (ish), so you still have a couple of months or so before you'll have an outcome. DO NOT be tempted to book flights or make any other plans until you definitely have your passport in your possession, with the correct visa attached.
The best time to be checking flight schedules and fares is around 90 days or so before departure. There are regular threads about this sort of thing in The Trailer Park section of the USA forum. Here is a recent one for example: http://britishexpats.com/forum/trail...s-hmmm-847341/
If you receive your visa in January 2015, this still gives you plenty of time to plan for a trip in June. Best of luck with everything.

Thanks for the reply materialcontroller; I only need to enter once on this visa so whether it's single or multiple entry doesn't matter too much, it was more the validity I was concerned about. I won't be booking anything as tempting as it is but there will be a few of us taking the trip together including 2 toddlers so I think we will want to book before the 90 days but thank you for the advice. Time is going fairly quickly on the wait since the interview, I had researched a lot before applying so I was aware of the 6 month ish wIt so perhaps that's why I'm not frantic about it. I just hope that it all goes through fine, fingers crossed!

Hello KTG I applied for a b2 visa end of July and had my appointment at the embassy in London very early September. It must be around a months wait. It was for me anyway.
