I still have my fingers crossed for you sue.. I with many other people understand how stressfull it is.. :fingerscrossed:

I've got my fingers crossed as well sue :)

It is very stressful indeed and you just don't get told much at all, like I thought once you had the visa that was it, wasn't told by the embassy about having to fill in the form on flight or about secondary processing.

When you apply and wait all this time you feel like your the only one!! So it's good to have a forum like this, so you know your not alone.

:fingerscrossed:

absolutely, this forum is the only thing keeping me sane!!! To pack or not...to change my spending money or not...to sort travel insurance or not...i'll need another holiday after all this!!

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

Have you checked flights prices/availability? I would start to get ready to pack.. would you meet your family out there the day after if it came to it? :)

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

prices have gone up a fair bit...if it doesn't come tomorrow it looks like it was all pointless :/

Do you mind me asking why you booked leave from work and had the rest of your family book flights/holiday already? What is so special about travelling right now? In other words, why couldn't all the arrangements have waited until you got your visa?

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

Oh i really hope you get it sue!! Im still keeping my fingers crossed for you.. could you not get a flight out like the day after or asap once it arrives & meet your family & come back home on their flight? :)

If they know your intended travel date they will try their hardest not to meet it.... lol :( From past experience that is the one thing that is consistent with these guys........

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

Having applied in February I simply followed the time frames given by the embassy, I have to book leave from work a year ahead and we never dreamt that it would take so long, some of my family had already planned the dates around their committments...the family went ahead and booked because who wants to waste 2 precious weeks of leave from work!

Hang on! You had your interview in February and are still waiting? What was the date of your interview?

If you bothered to look back at sue329's posts, you'd see that she began the entire application process in February but had the interview in April:

well it's now 15 calender days since the passport arrived at the embassy and not a word....has anyone else waited this long?

bubble123 Nov 22nd 2012 6:09 am

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

No my husbands has allways been 12 days from day of email to day of getting passport back.. on each time.. but then we have never waited this long & have allways heard back & had his visa before our intended date of travel.. except fr this occasion..
have you rang them? i know you never get much joy.. perhaps someone else with this new time frame has waited longer? did your family go today?

sue329 Nov 22nd 2012 6:14 am

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

i've rung them and they were unable to give me any information....just told me i had to wait and it would be processed in due course....i'm not sure why they have the phone line really as all they seem to say is wait, we can't tell you anything...i mentioned that their website lists current processing time as 4 days and they were not interested....so the family have gone without me and my boys....it's now 22 days since i got the email!!! Really frustrating as I would happily go somewhere else if only I had my passport grrrr

sue329 Nov 22nd 2012 6:24 am

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

given the way they have treated me i'm no longer sure i want to go to the US!! :( But having gone this far and spent all that money I reckon I'll get a flight the minute the passport arrives lol

My record is 3 hours. Shortest is 1 hour.

Just what you need after an 11 hour flight!

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

Id also say we have allways been through immigration & outsude in about an hour.. we have never waited long in secondary either.. but then i guess it depends where abouts you are in the queue & how many others etc.. :)

Bear in mind that at a lot of POE's, you could be waiting an hour at busy times. Then after that you will get hauled off for secondary processing. No getting away from that unfortunately. How much extra time that takes could be anyones guess.

Definatley worth it.. Although this is now our longest wait time & the only time we have had no visa before intended date of travel.. I will sure still be going hopefully for many years!! Lol.. You will love it!! I will just make sure my husband applies way in advance next time.. :)

Surely you mean another £30 well spent.

Look at it this way. If you're committed to the idea of going to the USA, you'll do/pay whatever it takes.

Just wondered what do you think happens when DHS get round to viewing your application & your actual travel date has been & gone.. Do they require you to submit new details? Or just carry on & take it that you would like to go asap?

Your intended travel date makes no difference to them. Any date you put down on the DS-160 application is only a guideline.

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

oh ok cool.. thanks.. i was just wondering as it said if you had made specific travel plans.. or intended date of travel etc was in 2 different parts i think.. like you say if its only a guideline then thats good.. thanks :)
