Default Naturalization Question

I am in the process of completing form N-400 and filing for
Naturalization. Bakcground.... Have been a LPR for 12+ years, work in
the US, own a home, wife is a US citizen. My question is regarding
time away from US. After getting LPR as a minor (along with my
family), I completed school outside of US (just school - did not
work). This took approximatly 1.5 years. I returned to the US every
3 to 4 months, family owned a home in US, never had a problem crossing
back into US, did not get a re-entry permit as I was never out more
than a few months. This was 10+ years ago, since then have resided
permantly in US never leaving for no more than a week at most. Over
the past 12+ years, parents have spilt, not sure where father is (no
contact what so ever), mother left US after split from father, have no
background on thier circumstances in regards to LPR etc.

Will my time away from US 12+ years ago, even though it was always
less than 6 months be an issue? I have no old passports, no record of
anything from that far back (bank account etc..) and no means of
getting anything from my parents. I can verify anything past that
with out an issue, after I was on my own as an adult (10+ years now).
It is the years as a LPR as a minor that are of question. Will
parents status be an issue, even though I do not know and am an adult
since we all processed as a family 12+ years ago? Will any of this be
a concern to INS? Can the INS say that I abaonded my LPR status 12+
years ago because of this, even though I have been living in US all
this time with out an issue, citing my mothers departure from US and
unknown status of father? For the past 5 years I have tax returns,
proof of mortgage, employment with same employer, bank accounts,
marriage certificate etc..

Appreciate any insight.

Default Re: Naturalization Question

The INS will look a the time away from the US. More than one year might be
considered as abandoned. They also look at "ties and equities". What
"things" kept you returning here. Since you returned to the US and
subsequently resumed residence, it probably will not be an issue. Especially
since you did that as a minor.
But I'm not an expert, call an adjudicator at the INS Service Center for
your district.

Default Re: Naturalization Question

I really don't think that would be an issue since you never were outside of
the US longer than a year (seems like 8-9 months at a time). But I'd talk to
a lawyer just in case.
