Naturalization Ceremony in Los Angeles - 26 Feb 2008
There was a big Naturalization Ceremony in Los Angeles on 26 Feb 2008 with approximately 12,000 new citizen on that day. There is a probability that majority of them applied for passports right away.
Up to that day, the processing time for the routine service was 2 week. Currently (mid of March) it is even 4 weeks as shown in the link:
rouhttp://travel.state.gov/passport/get/processing/processing_1740.html
Apparently there are no possibilities for tracking the applications, which are usually available 7 to 10 days after submitting passport application.
Did anybody already get the passport by routine service?

Not in my case.... That is the reason i am hoping to reach someone from other 11999 new citizens and hear about other experiences.
Typing mistake - I am talking about 26 Feb 2009 (and not 2008).

First-time passport applications for naturalized citizens seem to be as fast if not faster than the home-grown variety. I assume that USCIS send DOS usable data soon after the ceremony.

Dear MsElui, you have applied for your daughter(s) and got the passport in two weeks. The catch is that children passport do not require biometrics (fingerprinting) and can be produced very quickly.
The passports of the adult persom have much longer processing time. Does anyone has the experience about the processing time for the recently made applications?
By the way, the tracking system at travel.state.gov is currently not working.

I had my US passport and passport card back in 8 actual days after application - expedited service - and it never, ever showed on the passport tracking. This was in December last year. No biometrics are needed for a US passport - just the photograph that they can take at the post office. Your fingerprints are already in the system via GC.

I was not part of that group but I applied for my fist passport on Feb 24th and got it yesterday. It was received by the passport service on March 2nd and showed up on their tracking site on Monday. Oh, to add. You can call them up and they can track it via their internal system which works much better than the online one.
