I am intending to change my name by Deed Poll because my father (long
lost) has been found after 28 yrs. I will assume his surname etc - he
wants me on his will!!
How will it work with passport - will my new passport be linked to my
old one?

I ask because I overstayed in the USA for a short while and would like
to re-visit a friend that has moved there with his work.

A lot depends on what country you are from, what visa's you may have had in the past and how long you overstayed.
