06/28/00: Submitted N-400 application to INS/VSC.
06/28/01: INS/VSC received N-400 application.
06/28/02: Received receipt notice, with PD 06/30/00
06/28/03: Received notice for fingerprint appt
06/28/04: Fingerprints completed at INS/ASC Boston.
06/28/05: FBI cleared fingerprints.
06/28/06: Called INS/VSC, confirmed fingerprints cleared and file complete. In line
for n-400 interview.
06/28/07: Received notice for interview on 04/25/01
06/28/08: Passed interview at JFK Federal Building, Boston. Received N-445 Notice of
Oath Ceremony for 06/21/01
So, 8 months from fingerprinting to interview, 2 months from interview to swearing
in. At the end of this process, it will have been almost 1 year from filing to
swearing in.
Summary of Interview at JFK Federal Building, Boston: Started on time; INS officer
was courteous & professional. I entered his office and was put under oath. The
interview lasted about 10 minutes. He verified most points on the N-400 form, and
asked 10 questions on history/civics. I then had to write a simple sentence that he
dictated, as a test of English comprehension.
After this, I signed all the forms in front of him. He then congratulated me, saying
I had passed & stamped my N-400 form as "Approved". You have no idea how excited I
was to see that stamp, in large red letters...
I also received a Naturalization Interview Results form, indicating the same. I then
returned to the waiting room for 10 mins or so, and received Form N-445, Notice of
Swearing In Ceremony.
7 weeks to go before I become a US citizen. I'll post a final update after the
oath ceremony.
good luck to all.
