N400 - No movement
Hi all,
Notaclue, but cannot access my old account for some reason!
My N400 was mailed around 9 months ago, and thus far only had a 'we're actively working on your case' letter. Not a thing more. My local field office is small, and remote (St Thomas, VI).
I'm seeing other people on here get interview notices after three months.
Should I be calling to try and escalate? Eight or so years in to the process now, and I'm over it.

Unfortunately, a lot of people have had their accounts hacked by spammers in the past couple of weeks, so Admin have had to force a password reset on some members who didn't have a secure password.
HTH.

Have you setup an online account? And used your receipt number to link the case / look at updates? Should have been on the receipt letter.
I just looked at mine, Biometrics letter was issued 6 days after N400 was submitted online… then 6+ months till next notice for interview. As others have noted it’s all based on local offices so some are really fast and others are really slow and many between.

By mailed you mean sent in paper format?, not submitted online?

I did just get my removal of CR a few months prior so assume they still have recent prints.

Yes was submitted online. We have a population of 100,000 on the islands, and our very own field office. Not sure why it should take this long just to get to interview. I did not get anything about biometrics, just 'we're working on your case'.

my guess would be… your offices population is so small there are no full time officers working on these… maybe they process somewhere else… and then schedule interviews in a bunch and fly someone in… if population is only 100k how many are LPR applying to become USC, likely not many…

From my experience all that wait is just that, a wait while they likely do nothing. My guess is after biometrics they do a background check, assuming no issues not much happens until you get an interview date, maybe they review the file for missing documents. At my interview the officer was changing / adding things to my N400 before administering the english and quiz tests and complementing me on getting an CT tax refund…

And just like that, interview scheduled for March 13th.
Time to study!
I’ve heard mixed stories as to being sworn in the same day. Is this true?

Congrats. It'll depend on your local office for same day ceremonies. When I had my interview (in Philadelphia) same day was not an option and I had to go back about 6 weeks later for my ceremony.

Some of those test questions don’t look friendly!
