N-400 Interview Done.

With luck, I will be naturalized on December 16th, which is the next ceremony in Houston.

All went well at the interview this morning, a re-show due to being before the 5-year required residency period at the original appointment last Monday.

For the test I was asked

Who Wrote the Declaration of Independence,
Who is the Commander in Chief,
Name 3 of he original Colonies,
Name a State that Borders Mexico
What is the party of the president
What are the two major political parties.

Then the Officer reviewed application, there was nothing out of the ordinary.
He then showed me an internal form to be submitted to produce the certificate so I could confirm all looked correct.

He said he would go turn in the paperwork and the return to escort me back to the waiting room, where I would be free once I received my Naturalization Appointment Letter.

My Naturalization appointment was ready in just a few minutes, but my wife took the full promised 45 Minutes.

Everything went well, except for a most minor issue that we caused by loosing my Wife's appointment letter.

We had a complicated arrival, since we lost my wife's appointment letter for the interview. (SHAME!). It was the most bizarre service experience yet in my life. The "receiving" counter has a wood drop box, on top of the counter, which is open to the "inside", at the bottom of "the window", but blinds are fully set, so you can speak, but you can't see any faces... This is the transcript: Please bear in mind I cannot see who I'm speaking to)

Me-Hello
Her-Yes?
Me-My wife has lost her appointment letter, her A number is one higher than mine, and we were hear last week on an appointment that was scheduled too early, and we were told to come back today. This is my Appointment letter (passed letter to "inside")

...No Answer for about 1 minute...

Me-I have her receipt and fingerprint appointment if it can be of any help....(set receipt on counter)
Her--I don't need that.
Me-ok
...long pause...........
Me-Is there anything else I can provide ?
Her--Go Sit down...
Me-ok, were you able to locate her file ?
Her-I'm done. Go sit down...

At this point I had no freaking clue if she had found the file or not, but since it was her second command for me to leave, I figured I'd be better off leaving. Turns out she had found the folder, and set it on top, so My wife got called just a few minutes later. Somewhat unexpected given the weird interaction, but I'm not complaining !!!!

Anybody else from Houston on Dec 16th ?

Congratulations. Thanks for sharing. When did you file the N400?

Edit: Oooh! I just got my second gold star! Must be because I went through 50 posts. Is that why people post baloney on here, to get more stars?

Pretty much, although I'm only posting here as I never bothered looking at my star level before!

Congrats to the OP on getting through the interview too!

Congratulations, the worst is behind you.

Hopefully all the hassles of immigration will soon be a distant, and very vague, memory - as it is now with me. I can only recall bits and pieces of my 5+ year naturalization process, and it only ended a few years ago.

DONE !

Our Ceremony was this morning, We were out by 10:40am, which was impressive seeing how it was over 1000 being naturalized.

All in all very nice.
