Default N-300 Filing - Declaration of Intention (to become a citizen)

Hi,

it's been 5 years since I went through my K-1 visa process - which went very
smoothly thanks to the help of many people on this newgroup.
I am in the process of filing form N-300 - Declaration of intention to
become a US Citizen - it's a formality I need for a particular license here
in Oregon, so it's not a standard form for everyone.
Anyone know if it has to be filed in person or by mail?

Steve

You local office may require that you first make an Infopass appointment
to see someone in person if you can file it that way:

"File this application with the USCIS Local Office having jurisdiction over your place of residence."

Good luck!

I get that it's to be filed with Portland - but do I have to file in person
or is it supposed to be mailed in?

thanks

Steve

AFAIK, all local offices accept mail that is supposed to go to them - not all offices accept walk ins. If you live near Portland, then go - there's nothing to lose. If you don't live near Portland, then mail it in. Simple.

Portland, like all other local offices now, is on the InfoPass system so
the OP won't just be able to go in person without an InfoPass appointment.

To the OP: make an InfoPass appointment; see if there is a choice for
filing an application or petition. If not, they may not accept an
in-person filing anyway.

Mailing is always acceptable; I suggest a method that provides for proof
of delivery. Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope and ask that
the filing receipt be returned to you. Sometimes the office will use
this and sometimes not, but it never hurts to include it.
