Mother's Immigration to USA
Hello Fellows,
I am an American Citizen, I would like to apply for my mother to come and
live with me in USA.
What do I do?
What kind of application or applications do I need to file?
I-130 alone?
I-130 and I-485?
Where do I apply? in the USA? or apply in the Ameican Embassy in country of
origin?

Since your mother is outside US, she doesn't use I-485. I-485 is used
when you want to apply a GC for her while she is inside US.
Decide whether you want to get her to US on visit visa and let here
see whther she wants to live in US or just go ahead and file Alien
petition for her (I-130 filing) and get her here on immigrant visa
(she gets GC upon arrival at the airport).
With the former procedure, she will be near you soon and also when you
apply for her for GC (file I-130 and I-485 at the same time), you can
also apply for a travel permit for her AS LONG AS you do all this
while she is on a valid non-immigarnt visa which she can use to go out
of US and come back in while waiting for adjustment of status for GC.
With the latter, she will be applying for immigrant visa at a US
consular office in her home country using a different form than I-485.
