Medical exam.. Please help

I married a girl from SE Asia and she is here on H1B visa... in the process
of filing for adjust GC status, we found out that she have positive of
hepatitis B, does this will have problem for adjusting to GC? Does any one
have the same situation? I am very worry ...I also found out that, this is
common for the people in SE Asia?

Thanks

If it's something that's common, then I don't think so. I know that a lot of South Asians have a tendency to test positive for TB. My sister in law (who immigrated from England) and my aunt (who immigrated here from pakistan when she was 5) both test positive for TB, but when they have chest x-rays done, there's nothing to be found. I don't think you'll have a problem, but check with your local health department. Good luck!

It is NOT COMMON, at least not in Singapore. Our health care program ensures childhood immunisation from the age of 2.

Suffice it to say that Singapore, in South East Asia, is one of the cleanest and hygienic cities/countries in the world.

So, pls DO NOT generalise. Nor cause unnecessary alarm. Surf online and you get statistics easily.

Wishing you good luck with INS!

If I were you I would call one of the doctors that also work
for INS. I had a question once, called one of them and they
were very helpful giving me information. Of course he/she is
not the INS officer, nor can he/she give you a Greencard,
but they should be able to tell you where you stand
regarding Hepatitis B. I believe a list of "INS-doctors" can
be obtained on the INS-site, per region.

You can get the list of ins approved dotors on there web page. You might
also try google with immigration and heptitis B. You should come up with
the immigration guidelines for it. My guess is if she got the H1B she
probably is ok to get the GC.
