Default Looking to sponsor a current employee

Hello, I own/operate a company in Oklahoma and currently have an employee from the Bahamas who is working for me on his 1 year OPT. His OPT expires in June 2019 and I would like to sponsor him to continue working with me. Correct me if I am wrong but the H1B will be the only realistic option correct? He did enter the Green Card Lottery but obviously can't rely on that. I will be seeking legal advice for my question but have found this forum very helpful in the past so thought this would be a good place to start.

Thanks

Either H1B or the employment-based immigrant visa.

you can't file the H1B petition until April 1 2019 for an October 2019 start date.

I think the process for immigrant visa can be started anytime, but is a lengthy process.

The immigration lawyer can tell you more.

Best to discuss it with your Immigration Lawyer, there are many options and full details will allow the most appropriate route to be chosen.
