A Little Help Please. H1B1
Hello there,
I'm new and this is my first post. My apologies in advance if I missed a thread that gives me the information I need. I did use the search feature, but ignorance and stupid may have overcoming me.
I currently work for a Teleco Company in the UK, and have spent sometime with a customer on-site. During that time, I met a lovely girl of my dreams and decided to make a go off it.
I've secured an offer, subject to Visa Approval, and will be using a H1B1 route (hope I have that right). They say they have allocation from October. This is a company I've consulted for in the past, so fully aware of my background etc.
There immigration attorny, seens no issues in being able to secure me under specialised skill. I have a Degree (High Grade) and also some International Recognised Professional Qualifications.
My question, is one they submit the sponsorship in October and get approval, do I then need to make an application with the London Embassy? I'm a bit confused by the whole process.
I've already supplied copies of my passport, birth certification, degree, professional qualifications etc. But really unclear on the next steps.
They say the could have a possible start date of the 1st November, but that sets of alarm bells in my own head, thinking is that right!
Thanks in advance

Normally the 65,000 H1-B visas are made available on April 1 of each year for work starting after October 1 and are immediately over subscribed but over the past couple of years, they have not been filled due to the poor economy. Therefore any start date after October 1 will be fine.
Your prospective employer's immigration attorney will handle all the paperwork and you will just need to show up for an interview at the London embassy.

I'm leaving for the US tomorrow with my H1b. Also work in Telecoms. As Michael said the company attorneys do all the work, you just supply any info and documents they need. Once you have your H1b approved you can fill in the DS 160 form online and then book your interview at the embassy.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Well, it is significant....in that immigrating to the USA via a USC fiance/spouse is a lot easier than immigrating on a work visa. But perhaps you're not looking to immigrate?
On the other hand, if you can get an employer to pay for your immigration to the USA, that saves you a lot of money rather than going the fiance/spouse route! Especially if the company will agree to sponsor you for a green card (get that in writing, up front, with a specific date they will apply for you).

Thanks for the information. The reason I say its not significace is that I don't see marriage in the short term (we've only been together for 8 months!!)
Thanks

Re: A Little Help Please. H1B1
This is a minor point, but it sounded like the visa type you'll be applying for is H1B instead of H1B1. H1B1 is a specialized type of working visas for Chileans and Singaporeans only. It'll avoid some confusion at the U.S. consulate if you know the right visa type.
