as a journalist working for an organisation with an L1B visa in the U.S. - can i legally
write for freelance in my spare time? this is permitted in my employer's contract but i'm
not sure whether there's a conflict with the visa.

what if the writing was done outside of the US?

thanks to anyone who can help!

No, I don't think that would be permissible unless the freelance work is directly related
to your primary job - say, if you did it to promote your employer's business.

If the actual writing is done outside the US, there should not be a problem - but you may
have a problem proving that it was done outside the US.
