L1B to L1A

Hi, I'm British and currently living and working in New York on an L1B visa. I came here from our London office to take on the role of Staff Accountant. When I joined, within 2 months my boss left and I took over. I am now the VP of Finance. I've been here for 30 months and we're talking about extending my visa.

I would like to be able to apply for a green card so I want to know the best way to move forward from here. I've been given conflicting advise from different law firms (that I haven't officially instructed) but I think I need to switch to an L1A visa as I hear it's easier to get a green card from. I also think that you can only extend the L1B once then you'd have to move to a H1 which would be even harder to get a green card from. However, I'm not sure what criteria need to be met for an L1A, such as length of time in a management position.

Has anybody here gone through this process or can anybody tell me if it is easier to get a green card from an L1A over an L1B?

Also, can anybody recommend a good immigration lawyer?!

I did this about 8 or 9 years ago - yes the GC application process for me was much simpler -the employment verification step was not necessary. Check back on some of my previous posts and you will find some links that identify the criteria you need to meet to qualify for L1A.

Looks like my original links are no longer valid ... try this one http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/usc...00082ca60aRCRD
