L1 stamping in Toronto - need info
Our L1 visa expires this February and we are filing for our last
extension. We want to do the stamping in Toronto Canada. Can somebody
tell me where we can find the needed information? Where can I find the
phone number to make an appointment at the embassy? And which
documents do we need?
Thanks for your info!

Embassies actually never issue visas, only consulates do. Embassies deal
with foreign governments; consulates deal with foreign individuals and
businesses. That said, often, there is a consular section in an embassy,
which causes the confusion. Surprisingly, even the Dept. of State Web
site does not really clarify the distinction on their list of embassies
at http://travel.his.com/travel/abroad_embassies.html
The main US consulate actually is *not* in Ottawa but in Montreal.
Non-immigrant visas are issued in quite a few consulates throughout
Canada (including a consulate section in the Ottawa Embassy). You need
to make an appointment first, though. For details, see
