J1 student -> internship

I've heard that one can only have one work DS-2019 in his life now.
Does that mean that a person who did a Council program 2 years ago
cannot do an internship after his studies as a J1 (while he would have
been eligible if he would have studied with a F1) ???

Thank you !!!

This seems to indicate that a person cannot do what you propose:
http://www.ice.gov/graphics/enforce/...03.htm.However, I
think it is a little unclear. Why does it refer to a single *consecutive*
training program? You might try to ask another J-1 trainee sponsor besides
Council, like AIPT, AISEC, or CDS.

I had the link saved in a "J-1 trainee" folder of Bookmarks, so just looked
it up this time.

First searched for it about 3 weeks ago in response to a comment on
alt.visa.us by Expat Wannabe which nudged my memory. I'm on a few
listservs, and save a lot of the posts. I read through a lot of titles to
find a particular post from October 2003, which was courtesy of an AILA
subscriber (AILA has a proprietary service called AILA Infonet). Then
googled the title "Second J-1 Training Programs Not Permitted" and found the
government site.

There are some attorneys who put many of the AILA notices (or summaries of
them) on their sites.
