There has been mention here of spouses being a LPR-1. My green card
says I am category IR-6. Does this seem correct for a spouse?

Yes it is. IR = Immediate Relative ... as a spouse, that's you ;-)

IR-1 is for people who enter the US on an immigrant visa and become PR's at POE. IR-6 is for people who AOS in the US. For both categories you will have been married for more than 2 years.
